I am currently on a quest to assemble a Ukrainian traditional costume for the doll who will come with me to Ukraine this winter. Has anyone else ever made an ethnic outfit for their AG?
I did order this darling shirt from a seller in Ukraine- it was intended for a baby but the seamstress made it too small. The seller had it at a discount since it wouldn't fit humans, so I snapped it up. What a steal! The seller also included the darling wooden pysanki (easter eggs) you can see Isabel holding. (Forgive the horrid photoshop job!)
I want to complete the outfit, but unfortunately, cannot sew. I'd love to learn, but I am going to be really busy over the next 2 months before I go. I want to finish the outfit though! Here's an example of a Ukrainian doll outfit:
I just want to make her the plaid skirt, the tunic, and little apron (I want the apron to be black, not red). I think I'll buy Kirsten's red boots as the traditional red boots. I haven't the faintest idea how to go about doing this. Do you think I could sew this by hand? (No machine, can't afford one!) I would be willing to hire someone to do it for me, but I've never commissioned doll clothes before. Does it look too difficult- if not does anyone have any recommendations?
P.S. How's my campaign to get everyone else to get an AG25 going?
